Department of Bizarre Requests - Diary of a Necromancer
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense, you're just not keeping up
Department of Bizarre Requests
Hm... After a fruitless evening of browsing through Kmart/Target/Walgreens et al, I'm forced to throw myself upon the mercy of the Internet grapevine: does anybody know where in the Chicago area (besides Wal-Mart, which Mum refuses to set foot in) I might find iridescent/opalescent/holographic tinsel-garland? Or -- since this is for next Halloween -- have you got some that you were thinking of disposing of after the holidays that you wouldn't mind donating to The Cause? (Clear-with-faux-snow would also do, if that's what you're tossing) So far I've only been able to find icicles and the small-gauge loopy-rope kind in the color I need (I could swear this stuff was all over the place last xmas -- maybe I should try a dollar-store :) ), and the costume I have in mind could really use a packet or two of the classical wrist-thick foofy kind of garland... Thanks!

Besides that, it was a generally unfulfilling evening all around. The only thing more boring than shopping for new glasses for oneself is hanging around waiting for someone else to get new glasses, and my knitting was not one of the things I remembered to grab on my way out of the house. So I found myself cooling my heels in PearleVision for about an hour, trying on just about every pair of frames in the store and marvelling at the hideous results. Everything was so retro-Nineties-being-retro-Fifties that it made me want to run out and buy internet stocks; the Henry-Kissinger-goes-to-Vegas sale-rack clunkers were starting to look pretty good by the time Mum's exam was finished. But she was able to find frames she liked fairly quickly, since she's not bothered by the narrow lenses currently in vogue (I can't stand being able to see the edges of the frame, not to mention that I look like a Goth poseur with a migraine in anything much smaller than the frames I've got right now), so we were able to be on our way to the aforementioned Kmart/Target/Walgreens et al before I'd had to feign too much interest in the Spoilt-Yuppie Interiors Monthly that was all they had to read. Not that we got much of anything done besides groceries, although since there wasn't much left in the cupboards but cake-mixes (I think they eat the real food and then breed, I certainly don't remember buying them), this was a good job out of the way, I suppose.

"Confidential" to ilwitchgrrl: I stopped by your place to drop off a present for Baby's First ChristmaHanuKwaanzaYuleStice (since I spaced on yesterday being a potential movie/game night), but nobody answered the bell... Are you coming to the next MeetUp?

Was that today? I was home all day, that damn buzzer better not be broken! OMG and with the BRRR cold of today I hope you weren't traipsing outside too long! Sorry we missed you! :(

hehe, when is the next meetup? Is it this Tuesday? If so, I am thinking we won't be in attendance simply due to the sheer number of things that need to be accomplished before Christmas...but we can possibly make some sort of arrangement. And where is it this time?

Man, I'm out of it this month! I was so sick last week I didn't even check my emails/LJ and I'm way behind, lol.

It was about 8:30 PM Saturday -- since Saturdays are "out all day running errands in the car" days I'd grabbed the package on the way out of the house (IE it was the thing I did remember when I forgot about my knitting bag, see above :) ) so I could swing past your place at some point during the day's excursion... but although your lights were on you didn't answer, so perhaps you had better check the buzzer, I tried it three times, too... ;)

Next MeetUp is the 28th, I'm given to understand, and it's over at the Heartland...
