something akin to progress - Diary of a Necromancer
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense, you're just not keeping up
something akin to progress
Having definitively given up on the workmen ever returning, I finally got to spend a demoralizing afternoon chasing the Query Letter around my office with a spork. This involved a lot of staring at a blinking cursor and doubting that I have any ability to make myself understood at all, let alone to convey the spirit of this peculiar Manuscript in terms that don't sound like I'm either an impossibly dry academic or someone who's having a psychotic break as they type. The preliminary result of the afternoon's effort strikes me as drivel, but as it might just be the right kind of drivel for this situation, I've set it aside to see what it looks like on Monday.

At which time, of course, the workmen will have been whipped into compliance by the landlady after we go to see her on Saturday to catch up on rent, and they'll show up at my door at 8AM...

I'm not entirely certain that sounding like someone who is having a psychotic break is actually detrimental in a query letter. Everyone knows that good writers are insane.

Well, give ya a hint, I couldn't get it not to start out in a way that makes me think of all those "An X, a Y, and a Z walk into a bar" jokes...

Shoyru's in the mail, BTW.
