I haven't had enough spoons lately even to address any of the do-able things that might help me to reclaim some spoons. This is, obviously, not a helpful situation. And the damn Weather is. not. helping.



In a completely unrelated I swear enquiry, does anybody happen to know offhand what culture it was that used to deal with the cold by smearing themselves with butter? Asking for a, um, Muse friend...

Sorry about the spoons--I hope they recover soon. But man, this weather.

S, surprisingly, does not know which cultures used butter, but she uses beeswax salve, which accomplishes the same thing in less rancid fashion. And some First Nations used bear fat, which I'm told smells pretty vile even when still in the bear.

I suspect I'm conflating several practices here, which is, as usual, not exactly helpful RE the bit I was actually trying to work on...
