you should see the other guy - Diary of a Necromancer
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense, you're just not keeping up
you should see the other guy
Mum just called to say she's been rear-ended by someone who apparently hadn't noticed that the car in front of Mum was stopped to make a turn. It sounds as if the perp has got the worst of things, and since the car was injured while at work it gets to put in for comp, so Things Could Have Been Much, Much Worse; still, have advised Mum to seek a medical checkover for herself on the perp's insurance's dime if she can just to be sure all her bases are covered. Car, needless to say, has to head into the shop to have its rear bumper stuck back together and see if the front was damaged when it got pushed into the car that was making the turn, but at least its injuries are minor; perp's car, which hit Mum's stationary one at maybe 30MPH, had the airbags go off so hard that perp's windshield broke. I will definitely take "rattled but okay" as these phone calls could go, man...

I'm glad this was an It Could Have Been Worse situation, but you were right to advise her to get a checkup. Being shaken up in an accident is scary at best, and potentially worse. Glad, too, that the perpetrator did get the worst of things!

It's far from the first time this has happened (she's a delivery-driver, she gets a lot of chances to be in the way of someone who's not going to stop for turning traffic), but it sounds like one of the harder impacts, she was already complaining about her back being a bit sore. But since she called before the cops had finished sorting everything out, and they'd already offered to call the little-old-white-haired-lady an ambulance, maybe she'll be able to catch them before they go and say she's thought that through more...
