Stupid Broadband Tricks
This bit of cruelty to penguins is probably some obscure Linux joke; nevertheless, it's strangely addictive. My best score was 577.6.

I saw that site for the first time yesterday. It's up for Site of the Month at this place called coolsiteoftheday.com. I'm part of that Bookcrossing thing, though I haven't officially particpated in almost year.

I prefer to just leave books wherever and let people find them instead of going to all the trouble to label them and leave them in suggested spots. Anyway, I still get the Bookcrossing newsletter and they got Cool Site of the Day last month and are up for Site of the Month, so I went there to check out their competition and the penguin batting thing was in second place with Bookcrossing in first. You can vote for penguin abuse at coolsiteoftheday.com. I preferred to give Book Crossing my vote.

I played the game for a little while, but it seems my batting average is the same as it was when I was on the softball team as a child. One of the few times that I actually hit the dam thing it did go out for 532.3. Not bad, but you're still ahead of me.

I'm lazy, I usually just leave unneeded books down in our laundry room. :)

The trick to the penguin-batting is to hit it quite low so it skips like a stone... but it's funnier to watch them go in head-first.

Re:

I can barely hit the thing let alone control how I hit it. I actually got better scores when the penguin was batted threw the air, but my best still hasn't gotten above 555.5. When I got that score, I almost shouted "Yahtzee!," but that's five of a kind, isn't it?
