...You don't want to see the REST of the to-do list. Believe me. - Diary of a Necromancer
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense, you're just not keeping up
...You don't want to see the REST of the to-do list. Believe me.
And then somewhere at the intersection of ADHD and Soul Crushing Ennui, I finally found a couple of spoons to go back and catch up with these Audience Participation Memes:
A continuation of the five question meme. Leave me a comment saying "That's what she said." I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity. Update your journal with the answers to the questions.

These are the questions that ljgeoff asked me:

1) I don't know if I've ever heard you talk about cooking, so here's a cooking question: You are going to a pot luck, and you decide to prepare your favorite pot luck dish. What is it, and why is it your favorite?

If you've seen my "food" tag, you can probably divine why there aren't a hell of a lot of entries filed under it... (Srsly, I managed to screw up the basic physics involved in cooking pasta the other day. Fire's supposed to make heat, right...?) The indestructible poundcake is generally my go-to potluck item, simply because I haven't yet managed to kill one.

2) Are there any ways that your personal code of honor conflicts with the more general Western code of ethics? Or, do you see things happening around you that everyone else accepts as good and right, but that you think is Just Not Right?

Hm, well, on a general level, I have some fundamental disagreements with the structure of terminal-phase corporate capitalism, but I'm not entirely sure that this is a matter of everyone else assuming that this is Good and Right either, so much as merely inescapable under the present setup. Don't know if you'd say that's at heart a question of "ethics", or more "tactics"...

3) You go on a date or some kind of date-like-activity and you and another person really click! Then they tell you that they hate cats. Your response?

Depends on the underlying reasoning -- are we talking about indifference, or outright loathing and malice? And it would also depend on whether there was currently a cat in my life; if the cat's presence is going to be a dealbreaker, then I'd have to side with an existing cat, because I've already made a deal with them that they'd be looked after. But if I was between cats, well, it'd be more open to negotiation.

4) A low-skilled Fairy Godmother appears to you and says that she can make it so that you succeed beyond your wildest dreams -- but in just one area of your life. Which would you choose?

Define "success", I suppose; if it's "talent leading to recognition", then the writing wins hands-down. But if it's "talent leading to improved talent", as opposed to remuneration external to the actual talent itself... um, not entirely sure where I'd come down on that. Possibly I'd ask for the Life Skills stuff I'm so crap at, that could be leveraged a lot of ways...

5) Do you think that we humans will be able to figure out this climate change shit before civilization goes swirling around the drain?

We lost our best chance at it ten years ago, and at this point, I have to say, I'm not even sure that preventing the drain-swirl is the most desirable outcome. Kind of leaning towards "let's just start over again with clams or something". This could just be my general sense of alienation talking, of course. But I think the bees are onto something by fucking off while they can...

And then there was an icon meme from juliet316:
Comment on this post and I'll pick six of your icons, then you'll post and explain why you have them as your icons. In turn, if I comment on your icon post, you pick six of my icons and I'll explain here why I have them.

Eeyore, the pessimistic blue donkey; he chiefly saw use back in the 2004 election, for, well, obvious reasons, and occasionally still turns up in the context of bitching about politics...

The token "actual picture of User" icon. My hair is generally more photogenic than the rest of me lately.

Variations on a running theme: I liked the not-all-there effect of this frame from the beginning of "Utopia" and cropped it down for a go-to TARDIS icon.

Easily my most-used icon. Ianto's actual line here is "Oh, you are warped on the inside. How do you think of these things?", but his expression does manage to convey the general sentiment, I believe.

Because after a long night up wrecking the place, the last thing you want is to contemplate a trip to IKEA.

The obligatory "...yes I think I did just read that" icon. Obviously sees use in the same contexts as #4.

OK, hm, let's see...

1) Elevator-pitch yourself: in a nutshell, who is juliet316?

2) Why wrestling? Sell me on it.

3) How, exactly, did you fall into the sprawling mess that is Doctor Who and Torchwood fandom?

4) In a related vein, what is your motivation for writing fic for these shows?

5) You're trapped in the Hub on a lockdown that appears to be permanent. In what order do you eat the Torchwood team when the supplies run out? (For purposes of this question, assume that you can only eat Jack once. Show your work.)

3) How did you fall into Who fandom?

4) With six billion plus of us increasingly connected into a hive-mind, do you as a writer worry that everything's been done already somewhere?

5) How do you feel?
