ah, labor-saving devices... - Diary of a Necromancer
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense, you're just not keeping up
ah, labor-saving devices...
Modem behaving badly again tonight after a whole month of being suspiciously co-operative since the replacement got here. May need to get around to swapping it out soon... {sigh}

Don't talk to me about Modems! I have wireless internet not dial up and as soon as the weather is clowdy and storme my internet either goes down or starts getting really slow (Im talking taking ten minutes to open up my browser, slow) so I can definitely sympathise with you here *chuckles*

I used to have a dialup account that would go out every time it rained. It was actually predictable enough that I tried telling their tech support to go check if something was getting leaked on at their local server farm.

The DSL, now, is just... odd. This particular episode saw it going down three times within the first half-hour of starting up (twice the DSL light and once the ethernet light), but now it's been OK for 8 hours since it apparently woke up all the way or whatever... {is completely baffled}

YOu should check if perhaps you modem is not compatable with your computer. When we had a dialup system, we had endles problems resulting in us haveing to exchange the modem 3 times. After the third time they told us that the problem was that the modem was not compatible with our computer systems (we were on a network at the time) but this could happen with an individual computer too.

Not sure if this helps any.
