Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense, you're just not keeping up

Still grappling with the soul-crushing awareness that nobody in this life is truly happy and the sun's just going to burn out in six billion years anyway, or "November" as we like to call it around these parts. Don't suppose anybody would be up for taking me out to lunch sometime for a live reading of this emo-girl opus...?

...Crap. Well, here's yesterday's New Thing, anyhow:

  • New Thing Learned for 27 November: A single company in Chicago produces 40% of the country's supply of gyros meat. Sadly, the program didn't go into detail on how these vast herds of gyros are raised and humanely slaughtered. [Source: "Culinary Chicago", WTTW.]

i'll take ya out sometime.

to be honest though, i probably won't have any time till late december or january.

figured you at least needed the fine print in advance so when i couldn't commit to a date before then you wouldn't get emo over me not following through. ;)

If you can appear somewhere more convenient to me, I could drag you to Dragonbane's party on Saturday. Unfortunately, I don't go anywhere near Chicago on my route from Oak Lawn, DB living in Palatine as he does.

Hm, that might be do-able, what does your route look like?
atlanticat From: atlanticat Date: November 28th, 2007 11:39 pm (UTC) (permalink this entry)
The shortest route from Oak Lawn is to take 294 to 290 (Rt 53) and go on from there. I plan on also stopping at Mitsuwa in Arlington Heights. You can see what I mean when I say I'm going nowhere near Chicago....

I could probably talk Mum into a Mitsuwa run if it means that I've got a ride home...

I can pick you up at Mitsuwa but my best offer is to have you crash on the couch when I finally return home and put you on the Orange Line in the morning.

Hey, at this point it sounds like a plan to me -- time?
atlanticat From: atlanticat Date: November 30th, 2007 05:13 am (UTC) (permalink this entry)
At this point, I don't know. I tend to show up to DB's parties later in the afternoon/early evening. However, we have weather to contend with at the moment as there's supposed to be a storm this weekend. I'm going to keep an eye on the forecasts. My least favorite travel condition involves precipitation and darkness, so I'm thinking mid-afternoonish if we're going to get hit.

Can I let you know for sure on Saturday morning? Alternately, do you have my home number?

Saturday morning works -- not sure I've got your #, have you still got my landline?

psst. We moved to Arlington Heights you know. :) You should have access to the address in my LJ, clicky on the Contact Info tag or the Party tag.

Sorry, Arlington Heights, then. The Northwest Suburbs are pretty much all a big jumble in my mind defined as somewhere near Schaumburg. That's where civilization ends, you see.

If I was in the neighborhood, or hell even the city or in the part of Indiana that is practically Chicago anyway, I'd be down for some hang out time.

Right now, food for us consists mostly of sporadic peanut butter and jelly, but we could be up for some low-key hanging out that was not lunch-related. Or in a couple of weeks, food may be more of a thing.

I seem to be being cryptic. We should talk on the phone, where I can be less cryptic.

Low-key hanging out might be fun -- have you got my landline number still? (The cel starved to death ages ago...)

Er... no, I think I've just got your cell. E-mail the real thing to me?

Our current idea is maybe meeting to see Beowulf in Oak Park on Sunday?
