At least it was a productive distraction, anyway. - Diary of a Necromancer
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense, you're just not keeping up
At least it was a productive distraction, anyway.
Well, I sat down a couple of hours ago to work on the WCKG newsletter, and I think I just filed my IL business paperwork instead... Eep. (Since the form demanded I declare a birthdate, "Halftone Artisan Handpainted Yarns" will be a May Day baby, so I suppose I'll have to dye it up some red diapers for its first official batch of Product. Mmm, subverting Capitalism...)

  • New Thing Learned for 24 April: Parabolic-mirror solar arrays work by focusing the sunlight onto a tube of "heat transfer fluid", which then runs into the water tank to make steam for turbines. This makes much more sense as a film, but you'll just have to trust me. [Source: Nova, "Saved by the Sun".]

  • New Thing Learned for 25 April: Soccer balls evolved their present coloration patterns in the late 1960s when games began to be televised, as previous plain balls were difficult to see on the black&white film stock and sets of the period. [Source: Modern Marvels, "Balls".]

  • New Thing Learned for 26 April: April 26 is World Intellectual Property Day. Which makes for a more substantive entry than the thing about scaring the cat out from under the porch with the broom that I discovered when Snip ran out the back door this morning, anyway. [Source: wiki.]

I was actually going to start the newsletter on Tuesday, for once, but the little monster had her first lapse at the new place that morning, and I spent most of the day doing laundry instead. Oh, the joy of having in-unit facilities! (Although the king-sized comforter still has to go off to the not-dry cleaners this weekend.) It appears that one of the neighborhood visitors marked its territory somewhere outside my bedroom window, which might explain, if not excuse, this episode, coming as it did the day after I cleaned the box. Argh.
