Inquiring Minds ought to be in bed
  • New Thing Learned for 2 April: Glee gum is currently the only non-synthetic gum on the market, meaning -- wait for it -- that there's no longer any chicle in Chiclets. [Source: that Food Network show with the guy from "Double Dare".]

  • New Thing Learned for 3 April: Roger Ebert has been the Sun-Times's film critic for forty years, which would explain why I can't remember a time when he wasn't around. [Source: column of 2 April 2007.]

Out of curiosity, since there's some stupid yogurt ad featuring it lately and this has kind of been bugging me late at night --

Poll #959382 mmm, ambiguous swimwear...

does the phrase "itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini" refer to:

a bikini with yellow polka-dots (a "yellow-polka-dot bikini")
5(23.8%)
a yellow bikini with polka-dots (a "yellow, polka-dot bikini")
14(66.7%)
isn't there a war on or something that you should be worrying about instead of this nonsense?
2(9.5%)

Huh. I can eat Glee Gum, but I can't mix my own flavors... I wonder why they use rice syrup in the all-done kind, and corn syrup in the mix your own kit?

Hm -- shelf stability issues? Or maybe rice syrup is too finicky for the amateur chemist under their projected conditions of use?
