Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense, you're just not keeping up
Progress Reports
Both places are beginning to look like an actual move is happening: the New Place is starting on a second layer of head-high (for certain values of $HEAD) stacks of boxes in the "den", and there are patches in the Old Place where one can now see the floor, or could if there weren't enough dustbunnies on it to knit a couple more cats. Today's Task was dismantling the Alleged Worktable into its Elfa components, since it occurred to me that however convenient it might be to have the clear surface to pack things from, it was only a temptation to pile stuff right back up on it if I didn't take the opportunity to rip it apart during the .0005 nanoseconds that the top was momentarily unoccupied. In a desperate attempt to impose some order on my packing Process (which has already devolved into chucking miscellaneous crud into boxes with the vague intent of sorting it out as I try to find places for it on the other end), I also took apart my knitting stand, so I could lose pack all the Elfa crossbars together, since the longer ones required an odd-sized box.

In the process of dismantling the knitting stand, I found a small, mysterious blue bag.

The bag was filled with candy.

Hm, I said to myself, when did I lose a small blue bag of candy down the back of here? My memory is really going to hell if I can't remember misplacing candy...

As near as I can recall after much rumination, this is the goodie-bag from some birthday party or other, at least one of the candidates for which event was nearly a year ago. Fortunately, what's left in the bag is mostly Pixy Stix, which are pretty well unkillable so long as they don't get wet. :)

Have resolved to maintain much stricter housekeeping standards at the New Place, which should be helped along greatly by having a designated location to eat in that isn't concurrently the designated area to sleep in as well as the designated area to watch tv and knit in.

(Speaking of unkillable food, BTW -- Pop-Tarts do have a meaningful sell-by date, it turns out. Who knew?)

feeling: untidy

It's probably from cinnajess's birthday party back in March.

That's the conclusion I'm leaning towards, based on the presence of the bag... which is still an embarassing reflection on my housekeeping skills and general lack thereof, but at least not so much so as the fact that now I think about it, that's not the only missing bag of birthday-candy in this house. :/
