'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance, well... - Diary of a Necromancer
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense, you're just not keeping up

'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance, well...
{sprains toe kicking DSL modem} Um, right, last weekend, yes: well, as near as I can reconstruct it after a week of inexplicably patchy access... This is the trouble I got into on the Saturday, when local hand-dyers Lorna's Laces threw open their shop to unload a year's worth of "...was that meant to have those black thumbprints on it?" yarn:

IMG_0203.JPG
Top row: Shepherd sock -- Neon, Sassy Stripe, Lucky Stripe, Child's Play, Bee Girl Stripe
Bottom row: Shepherd sport -- One Of A Kind (4x), Flames (3x), Daffodil (2x), Mt Creek, Green Valley, Icehouse

The above actually represents exactly what I had written down beforehand as my goals in shopping at the sale: a few miscellaneous balls of sock yarn, if they're cheap enough, and mainly, try to focus Self on obtaining a sufficient quantity of sport-weight (the Shepherd line is a nice washable wool, you see) to make some sort of replacement for that abominable tan cardigan with the skates on it that I still have too much instinctive responsibility in me to manage to "lose" somewhere. Sadly, however, arriving 15 minutes before the opening was not sufficient to land me in the first group of shoppers to be allowed in, and thus I missed a chance at the secondary goal of snagging a skein of one or other of LL's fancy shawl-yarns -- must get out the door earlier next year. Total damages: $102, which coincidentally happened to be the (astounding) contents of the jar we've been chucking pennies into since hearing about this sale right after last year's.

And the important part is that I maintained my dignity throughout. :)

After the sale and a brief educational tour of the dyeshop, I had to drag myself out of the yarn-fugue to head out to legendofthehawk's baby shower. Mmm, radioactive-clown blankie... Cake was involved, I don't remember too much after that... :)

Arrangements are finally settled for heading up to WisCon. Next worry: whether hotel TV gets SciFi channel... (Captain Jack's accent still intensely irritating, but not so much so that I won't still go a bit spare about the possibility of missing a hit um, episode...)
