There's an intermittent funk emanating from somewhere in the living room that I am beginning to suspect is Eau du Souris Morte. I shall have to speak to the resident pest-control expert about the proper handling and disposal of her little playmates. Just as soon as she wakes up from her nice nap in the laundry basket, where she's been sleeping on the clean white towels all afternoon. Ah, the household cat's work is never done.

Phase one of Operation Breadbox successfully concluded on Monday; phase two, preparing the nursery, still somewhat behind schedule but expected to get caught up over the weekend, since Mum has Monday off. Documentation of this phase, we are pleased to report, is already underway utilizing some auxiliary equipment acquired in the course of the operation itself. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

In an not-entirely-related tangent, since I had to go out to Forest Park anyway, on the way back I decided to scope out something I'd seen on a local-access show; the Ridgeland Common ice arena is a block from a Green Line stop and has public skating hours until March -- would anybody be up for trying to fit in a meetup here? C'mon, it's somebody else's turn to fall on their ass for our entertainment... :)

Oh, Snip is an indoor cat too, unfortunately we've got indoor mice... {sigh}

I could deal with the concept of a meetup at an ice arena. However, their sessions are very very short and only on the weekends. If you can get people out there on a Friday night, I'm game. I wonder if you can attend the late afternoon session on a Saturday, sit around the place for 1.5 hours, then go out for the Adult session. Might not be a bad idea to find a nice bar or cafe in the vicinity....

Should I put this down as your suggestion for where the January meetup should be held?

More like February, probably, to give us time to hash out the question of timing (and to scrape together a bit of cash :) ).

That sounds nice, I used to skate there sometimes when I was a kid. And it won't take me like an hour to get there.

That's what I've been thinking, we always seem to do most of these things up north because that's where most of the group lives... but not all. And I haven't been skating in ages.
