Thing is, he's basically been tethered as a desktop all his life, so it's not like his power-cord ever sees any mechanical stress; if it's something that can arise naturally over time just from entropy and decay, then yeah, that seems like a possibility. It's happened a few times over the years (which is why I have the 'technowhinging' tag...), that his battery will suddenly be missing a large chunk of its charge, but this is the first time he's run down flat while I was working -- I didn't even get a warning, for pete's sake, I thought at first it was that other thing he does sometimes...
