Fiberfill of the Daleks Holiday Special 2010
Well, since I need to sit here for another 56 minutes for an Inexplicable Battery Recharge anyway, I suppose George may be hinting that it's time to sit down and sort out our next episode:

Right, we all know what to do when we hear that sound... right? Oh, please tell me you remember the drills...

IMG_1905
I found some backup.

IMG_1900
So, erm, while we're waiting for the others to sort this...

IMG_1907
...Mum?

IMG_1901
Oh, baby, you can be my PA any time, yeah...

IMG_1918
Are you my Mum?

IMG_1916
...What?

IMG_1899
Oh, all right, I'll go and ask this nice man if he knows where the Oncoming Storm has got off to...

IMG_1893
Oi, you're not the only one who can do that, you know... Are we still on for Thursday?

IMG_1917
It's all right, he's invited us in for a biscuit.

IMG_1922
And they all had some nice tea and biscuits, and just this once, didn't feel the need to exterminate anybody.

IMG_1923
Not even when they had to go into the decontamination chamber when they got home.

I can't even say this wasn't premeditated this time...

Heeheehee. I've been so inspired from this weekend I've decided to prepare for making my own Dalek. :P

There are basically five bits that will be various degrees of annoying:

* the provisional cast-on: mostly because I keep losing my place and having to recount, YMMV -- it's a good skill to pick up, anyway

* the @#!!$ BOBBLES: they're not hard, as such, there's just so damn MANY of them...

* the eyestalk: which has a fiddly bit where you increase, decrease, and then increase again, for some reason I hate doing this bit

* sewing on the appendages: not hard, I just... hate sewing things on

* picking up the provisional cast-on stitches: again, a useful skill to learn anyway -- BTW, for this project I worked out that it helps to knit one more row than it says at the start, so you have a clearer line of knit stitches to work with when you get to this part

They're not difficult to make, really, they're just... involved; the good thing is, they're small and you get to a part where you're doing something else on it anyway fairly soon...

Will keep that in mind :P Thanks!

Oh, and the very last step is to graft the seam on their butts, which is also a skill that's worth developing, but since that part doesn't actually show in normal operating mode (it being on the very bottom when it's sitting up), there's a couple of ways to fudge it if you have to...

Well, since they were lolling around on the hotel furniture like that, it seemed like a good idea to toss everything soft in the freezer when I got home, 'cos you hear so much about bedbugs these days...

I like the decontamination chamber ;)

And yay for accidental Bracewell cosplay!!

If we keep this up there will be a veritable knit dalek army next year! :D

I have plans to ship at least six of them out of here, which still leaves me with Verity, Murray, Nick, and little Moff for a permanent population... {sigh} And Ron, but I'm not entirely sure he counts as a proper dalek...

Dare I say I am thinking of crocheting one?

Loved it! Sad I didn't get to see a lot of you on Saturday. I felt like The Doctor, an awful lot of running and very little sleeping.

Yeah, trying to do only the one day was pretty intense, it doesn't leave much time for hanging out if you want to get maximum panel-value before the train stops running... (As it was I got home at 1am!)

It's the aggregate effect that's really frightening... :)
