Coincidentally, the fic archiving site Archive of Our Own is now in its open beta, so I sloped over to sign up 'cos I'm a belt-and-suspenders braces sort of archivist especially since the HD blew; can't say that the interface rates any ease-of-use points with me, to the point where I'd rather contemplate digging out my own amygdala with a butter knife than think about having to transfer over any of the Really Long Works (I especially don't appreciate having to switch over to FireFox to work with anything there), but I did manage to get that latest story copied over for the hell of it. So, YMMV, or something.

I haven't looked at the site much. Is it searchable?

Somewhere around the third night they'd admitted that as suicide watches went they were both somewhat in need of adult supervision and fucked off down the pub, and things got easier, a little.

So very Torchwood.

It's searchable in several ways, assuming you're using FireFox (Safari came on this Mac and I've been using it through force of inertia) -- my objection to the site as presently set up is that the pathway to actually getting a fic live and formatted nicely is a bit rambling compared to what I'd prefer, it keeps forcing you through previews that don't always have a link back to "work on the next bit now" without having to exit back to the drafts listing. Or so it seems from what I've done so far, anyway. There are also issues with things reverting to strange defaults here and there, which combined with the number of times it directs you through those steps to get anything done... {sigh} I'm considering importing the longer Epics in single-page format just to have them backed up yet another place, but even 7 chapters were a bit blood-pressure-raising to get put up correctly as a properly chaptered fic.

And note that they didn't consider getting professional help... ;)
